Southern Fried Vocab No. 9

Hi there. Hello. Greetings and salutations. Welcome to the ninth installment of Southern Fried Vocab.  In case you missed last week’s installment, you can see a three-part post.
In case you’ve forgotten the rules, they go a lil’ something like this. You will be given a vocabulary word or phrase, a definition and a sentence. You are hereby challenged to go forth and use it in conversation.
Though you may not see a logical place to insert these words into conversation, everything is always better when you cover it in flour and drop it in some hot grease

The word of the week is peecan.

A nut harvested in the Fall from a big ol' tree usually found in somebody's back yard.

Definition
Peecan: 1. a tall hickory tree,  cultivated for its oval, smooth-shelled, edible nuts: the state tree of Texas. 2. a nut of this tree.

Example
Grandmother and grandchild: I’m gonna make us a pie for Sunday. What kind you want?
Grandchild: Peecan!

Quick Review
The key to the Southern accent is the long vowel. Where the rest of the world would say “pecan,” we say “peecan.”
